Weekend Update // Dead Space 3, Book Completionist, and YouTube Videos

A new update! Definitely some good updates coming out of this week, so let’s dig in!

Dead Space 3

I have finally been digging into Dead Space 3, and I am almost done with it. I believe I am on chapter 14 out 19 now. This entry in the franchise has a lot more action in it. Fighting human enemies is a first, and everything feels a lot more fast paced. I feel like maybe Dead Space 3 tried to take some notes from the Uncharted series. More of these almost entirely scripted set pieces. More bombastic in certain instances. The game is still a lot of fun, but the horror side of things kind of takes a back seat a bit. I really like the implementation of crafting new weapons and tools. I think I found a really good pairing early on, but it’s been fun building and trying some new stuff out. I think I should have the game completed before the end of this week, with a review shortly behind it.

Books Finished

I recently finished the Gears of War Aspho Fields book, and wrote a short mini review for it! I absolutely loved the book, and I already bought the next one in the series. I have another book I am currently reading now called Five Broken Blades, but will move over to Jacinto’s Remnant afterwards. I also have a bunch of comics to read through. These include Absolute Batman and the Army of Two Comics. I might start the Gears of War comics at some point too.

I also finished reading Onyx Storm, the third book in the Fourth Wing series. I say reading, but I actually listened to the audio book for it. I use to be pretty against audio books. It felt like I missed out on a lot of information. But after a while I realized it was the only way I could actually finish a book in a decent amount of time. So here we are! I listened to all three books this way, and I really enjoyed it a lot. I think I will do a review of the three books lumped together. Makes the most sense. I enjoy them a lot, but there are absolutely some shortcomings to them. So stay tuned to a future post for that!

YouTube Videos

My kids have been loving being able to make videos for YouTube. I appear in some of the videos occasionally. Most of the time, I let them do their thing. We recently just posted a video of Hadley, Harlen, and myself playing Gang Beasts together! It was a ton of fun. Their excitement is funny. It’s really starting to motivate me. I’m figuring out what type of videos I want to do. Initially, I thought live streaming was what I wanted. Now, I think it might just be YouTube videos. I could potentially do both if I really wanted. If I do that I will probably start that after my playthrough of Dead Space 3.

Check out the Gang Beasts video below! And you can go follow the YouTube Channel my kids are doing here!

When I eventually get to posting videos for The Tired Obsidian, you can find that YouTube Channel here!

I’m not sure what my next old school game playthrough will be yet. I’m debating on either Max Payne, or maybe Lost Planet trilogy. We will see! When it comes to doing some videos though, I think Minecraft would be a really fun one to do a long term thing in. And maybe this can also be where I finally get back on the Cyberpunk and Red Dead Redemption 2 train. Would be awesome to finally beat those games.

That’s all for now! Might have a surprise post later this week as well, which I am looking forward to, but no promises yet. As always, stay tuned!
