Hey-o! Decided to keep up the writing, so here’s a weekend update! Played three main games this weekend and honestly had a blast.
Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals just launched going into the weekend and it has been a huge hit. I don’t know about you, but this just might be the best online multiplayer launch of any game I’ve ever played day one. I had no issues connecting, getting into a match right away, and staying logged in the whole time. Marvel Rivals is essentially an Overwatch reboot, but with Marvel characters. You have the traditional group of Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk. There are also some not super well-known characters like Magik, Luna Snow, and Jeffy the Landshark. There’s domination mode, capturing a point, and moving a payload from point A to point B. It’s all standard and brings back many memories of the original Overwatch. Sure, there are a lot of things that will need to get tweaked. Buffs to some characters nerfs to others. I have been mainly playing as Magik. I really like her teleport ability. The mobility is awesome, but I think her ultimate needs a small buff. Marvel Rivals has taken over Fortnite for this season for my multiplayer game to play. I honestly thought it would be Hunt: Showdown, but nope. Marvel Rivals. Let’s go.
Dave the Diver

My kids take over the TV with their games or shows. That’s when I decided to boot up my Steam Deck. I’ve had a hard time deciding on my next Deck game. I have so many installed and ready to go, that I just can’t decide properly. I was skimming through and saw Dave the Diver just sitting there, ready to go. I got it at launch and it has sat ever since. So now was as good a time as any.
I’m kicking myself for not playing this game sooner. This game is so much fun. I’ve been diving non-stop this weekend. I haven’t played on my Deck this much since Dredge. And speaking of Dredge, apparently, there was DLC for this game from that one. So I have it, and I’m super excited to see where it goes. I’m in chapter 2 already and have so many upgrades for diving. The restaurant is probably my least favorite thing so far. Only because I get so overwhelmed with everything going on. Even at full staff, there’s so much to do. I do a good job I think, but I’m hankering to get back into the water and explore more.
Army of Two

Army of Two is a co-op game that came out back in 2008. I played this game with my co-op buddy back in the day and it was great. We never got around to playing the other two games together, unfortunately. But I actually bought them renewed on Amazon a little while ago. And I have the first game on Game Pass. I’ve been revisiting a lot of these older games. I thought, why not try and get through this franchise as well!
I’ve been enjoying my time with it quite a bit. I know what’s going to happen in the story. I’m really just running through it for nostalgia’s sake. I have it on recruit mode, but even then I am constantly getting my ass kicked. I’m not sure if it’s because I have an AI partner. Or if I just suck. All I remember is me and my friend kicking ass at it when I was younger. I even contemplated just skipping this first one and moving into The 40th Day. But I’m going to stick it out, get through it, and hopefully do some a mini-review for it.
What did you guys play this weekend? Let me know in the comments!

Is Rivals also a 6 v 6 game like OW was originally? Not exactly my scene so I don’t know that I’ll check it out, but am curious how much Netease borrowed from OW.
Also, the restaurant in Dave should get easier to manage over time, but it’s downright hectic for the first little bit. Hopefully with some upgrades to your staff you’ll find it a bit smoother. I know that helped me out a ton when I played through the game.
As for the question about what I was playing on the weekend: Metaphor ReFantazio, and Nine Sols. Not particularly far in either, but I’ve heard a lot of good about them.

Netease definitely borrowed a lot of OW. Like. Characters have similarities, but that’s also all super hero anything. But the UI and and even sounds feel so similar to each other it’s pretty wild honestly. I can’t call it a rip off though. The hero shooter team comp thing wasn’t new with OW. But it would be crazy to say that there isn’t a ton of similarities and inspiration taken.
I’m already getting better at the restaurant now! I feel like I might have to let staff go to higher better people, but for some reason that makes me feel really bad lol.
Metaphor is on the list of games I want to play but will most likely never get to. It sounds like such an excellent game. Nine Sols is on Game Pass. Maybe I should give it a go myself.
