After hearing about The Division Heartlands’ unfortunate and surprising cancellation, I had a hankering to get back into a Tom Clancy game. I actually started playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint for a while, which you can read about my impressions here. I always seem to find my way back to The Division 2 though, and here I am, booting it back up and returning to DC and New York.
Playing Breakpoint was mainly so that I could have a mindless game for my podcast bingeing. Switching over to The Division 2, I tried to see how well it would work as my next podcast game, but I was way too involved with the game and what I was doing that I just couldn’t focus on listening to my podcast. Which is totally fine, honestly. I am very excited to be diving back into this game. It seems like it kind of has a new resurgence. Sort of. Just don’t go on the subreddit.

The big thing for me is that seeing Year 6 start, and it has a new season format. They’re switching to a new character per season thing now. I believe you still have your main, but if you want to do the seasonal stuff, you start over. Which is something that Diablo 4 did or was doing, I’m not entirely sure. It’s interesting to see them make this change after such a long time of the game running. Understandably, a lot of hardcore players are pretty miffed about this. I get it, but with Heartland going away, I think there will be a new refocus on The Division 2 until hopefully the third game is announced.
I’ve had all of DC taken care of at this point, and have for quite some time. I’m still discovering new things in New York and I still haven’t finished off the Warlords DLC. I’m on the final mission, to fight off Keener. I did kind of have that bit spoiled for me recently, with the announcement of this new season, but that’s okie. I need to buckle down soon so I can hit it hard and heavy against Keener. Slowly getting back into the swing of things now though, so hopefully soon I can hit it again.

I’m still discovering the new modes and stuff that have been added to this game since last I played, but The Summit has been an interesting new thing. It’s a level-by-level climb in a skyscraper, fighting off enemies. I got to the fourth floor and ended up hopping off for the time being, so not entirely sure what the rewards are outside of experience, but it was fun while I was running through it. I can see that being a fun thing to do with friends in the game for sure.
The Division 2 has always been a game that I have loved to roam around and shoot baddies. I actually just love the world of The Division as well. Recently I have been listening to the audio books put out for the world. I’m now on the final of the trilogy that was set up. You can check those books out here if you’re interested yourself.
I am playing on Xbox, so if anyone is out there interested in jumping in the game with me, and maybe helping me defeat Keener, that would be awesome!
