At the start of October, I deleted all my social media. I didn’t deactivate it or anything like that, just deleted it from my phone. I found myself scrolling endlessly on both Facebook and Instagram. Just wasting so much time throughout my day, sitting down and staring at my phone. It was awful. So I decided it was time to take a long, overdue break. I want to focus on other things and have something else occupy my time. Like this blog! I actually looked it up to see if blogging counted as social media, and it does. But since this is something I think is productive, it stays!
The only place this blog was posted was on Twitter after manually posting, and Tumblr which was an auto post. I haven’t actually done anything on Tumblr in years. Almost none of my views came from Twitter, it’s all from email subscribers. Which is cool. I actually haven’t done much on Twitter either for months now. So all that has been pretty easy to delete and move on. Instagram is kind of my big thing lately, but that’s more on a personal level.
I find myself grabbing my phone during slow moments in the day. I check it only to realize there is nothing there. It’s been an adjustment, but I think it’ll be good. I don’t want to say I was addicted to it. I wasn’t really making stuff myself, just watching what everyone else was doing. Hopefully, this long break will get me in the mood to post more things, finish books, and play games. It’s not even necessarily screen time I’m trying to get away from. It really is all about productivity, so hopefully I can continue this for a long while. I just want to better myself.
Have you ever done a social media break? How did it go for you? I think I’ll keep posting updates about it if there are any. Ideally, I’ll just kick it and call it good.

Same here. I didn’t deactivate any accounts, I just un-installed. I’ve experienced burnout dealing with too much political posts and people hating on games they don’t intend to play and I’m tired of seeing it and so much more thus I am finally taking a well deserved break to focus on what really matters in my life. The longer I stay away the less inclined I feel to return.

I came back, but only barely. I’m really only trying to use Blue Sky right now, since it’s so similar to what Twitter use to be. But even then I like meeting new people through the blogs on here. It feels more natural and I’m finding people I actually like easier lol.
