This weekend was a pretty good weekend overall. I always have my kids on the weekend. When it comes to gaming, I have to get it in when I can. I find myself playing games with my kids a lot as well, like Minecraft or some Lego game. It’s always a pretty good time. I like that my hobby of video games have translated to them in a way and we can enjoy it together.
Army of Two: The 40th Day

I wasn’t playing with my kids every moment. When free, I hooked up my old 360 and started playing the sequel to Army of Two. The sequel is The 40th Day and brings back the previous two protagonists. Everything feels the same for the most part. Some quality-of-life stuff was added in. You can feel how some Gears of War stuff made its way into this game. I still have a hard time playing with the AI though. It’ll never compare to having a co-op partner. It’s more managing than I would prefer to do. Overall though, I am still enjoying the game a lot. I think I will probably have it beat before next weekend. And then on to The Devil’s Cartel.
Dave The Diver

I played more Dave the Diver and man, this game is just incredibly fun. It really is a perfect game to play on the Steam Deck. It doesn’t kill the battery like a lot of other games. I didn’t finish chapter two yet. I’m having an issue with the unique customers who want a specific dish. I have the ingredients, but when I put it on the menu they don’t order it. And one of them requires me to dive at night. So I’m wasting some of my restaurant time to dive at night. And then the guy doesn’t even want the food! I’m sure I’m doing something wrong. I’ll pay more attention to it when I boot it up later. There’s also a brand new DLC that was just announced for it at the Game Awards the other night. I’ll probably make a separate post on the Game Awards tomorrow. I want to go through many of the trailers and see what I missed.
Gears of War: Aspho Fields

I’ve been itching for more Gears of War since I played through Judgment the other week. I’m planning on going through the entire franchise with my brother, but coordinating that isn’t always the easiest. So in the meantime, I started reading the Gears of War books. I really wasn’t sure what I was getting into. Gears of War never felt like something that could translate super well into a book. Like, how does all that action feel when you’re reading it? Well, so far there hasn’t been a crazy amount of that action. Which I am not complaining. Most of it so far focuses on understanding Marcus Fenix. It explores where he came from. It details how he got to where he is in the games. You get to meet Carlos, Dom’s older brother. Not someone you ever see in the games at all. I’m maybe a third of the way through the book now. I plan on having it done by the end of the week. Maybe I can write a little book review for it!
I also played some more Marvel Rivals as well. A match or two at a time. I’m still enjoying it a lot. Having friends would definitely make me grind that game more. However, I’m not buying into the season pass right now. So just jumping in, having a good match, and moving on with my day feels just fine.
That’s all I was really up to this weekend! I watched The Challenge episode 15 which was decent enough, but not enough that I want to write about it. Started watching Ink Master’s newest season as well, but meh. I’m not a professional tattoo artist, I don’t want to give my opinion on that stuff. It’s just fun to watch.
What were you guys up to this weekend? Play anything? Watch anything? Read anything? Let me know!
