The Challenge is a reality TV game show that has been on for many years now. It has easily been my favorite show to watch. I’ve seen every season at this point, including the first season on Road Rules VS Real World Challenge. There are so many players in each season that I absolutely love and hate. The Challenge has always been a big part of my life when it comes to watching shows. So now its the Challenge 40, arguably the biggest season they’ve done, and I am finally able to watch it. This post will be written as I am watching the first two episodes.
This season brings four different eras together, ten people in each era here to prove themselves. My initial look at each era right away makes me think Era 3 has the best chances. They have some real powerhouse players on their team, and they’re all hungry for more wins. Cory is definitely a stand out ready for a win. Tori and Devin are back after their last big win as well. Jordan alone is a badass.
Era 4 has a ton of up-and-comers and strong female players. Jenny is a muscle mommy, and Kaycee is pretty strong as well. Era 2 has a few as well for females. Cara Maria is always a favorite. Not my favorite, but a fan favorite. I think.
First night there will be 8 eliminations, they are weeding out the weakest of the eras. There are a few from Era 1 that I’m not super familiar with. I think this is because they’ve been gone for so long. CT is always a stand out though.
I don’t want to make any predictions until after the end of these eliminations. The challenge they are doing is a puzzle and then paddling out onto a pond to receive some lights. It’s super simple stuff. However, it shows where some people are at with physical and mental challenges.
Just a side note. Laurel is the worst and I hope she goes home first.
CT is a G still. So much love for this guy. He was actually on a show called The Traitors recently and he won. It was awesome.
Here are the winners and losers of this challenge.
Laurel and Bananas come in first for Era 2, so they are safe. Ryan and Kellyanne came in last for Era 2, so they are automatically going into the elimination.
CT and Rachel from Era 1 won and are safe. Mark and Katie are last, so they’ll be up for elimination. I barely remember Katie if I’m being honest, as well as Rachel.
Tori and Cory win fro Era 3 and are safe. Nia and Leroy came in last, so they’re into the pit. When Leroy is in each season, I always root for him. I know he won’t ever win. He just doesn’t have a good competitive nature I feel like.
Michele and Horacio win it for Era 4. Nurys and Theo came in last. Nurys and Horacio are still together from last season which is great for them. I think it will affect their mental game though. Theo as a big ego, but he’s a bad ass to be honest. I’m sure he won’t lose the elimination.
Era 1 is a bunch of oldies and I love it. None of them want to party or stay up late. They all just want to go to bed early and I feel that.
I really want Leroy to stick around. Him and Cam still being together with two kids is incredible.
Part One is all talking. I get that it’s a reality show, but this is something that The Challenge has suffered from for a little while now. Wasting entire episodes on talking and uninteresting, prolonged drama. Hopefully Part 2 gives us all the eliminations in one go.
Part 2 Eliminations
With everyone walking in we get to see who was chosen to go into eliminations. We get to see little clips of flash backs showing reactions to going in and all that. I don’t mind this. Looks like we have 4 very physical eliminations that are fan favorite. Pole Wrestle, where the two competitors fight over a single pole. Take Shelter, which is super physical and having to use a lot of thinking as well. Not my favorite elimination, but I think because CT lost to it in its premiere, it’s just been a staple. Balls In which is an offense/defense style game, trying to get a ball into a barrel. And finally, Hall Brawl. This is the most famous and honestly, usually the best one to watch. One hallway, each competitor on each side, and it’s a head-banging good time.
Era 1 Pole Wrestle
Each Era gets to take on their popular elimination. Era 1 got Pole Wrestle
Mark vs Derrick
Winner Prediction Derrick.
Actual Winner Derrick.
Super physical. The match up is pretty wild with Derrick being significantly smaller than Mark. But Derrick is the pole wrestling kind, so of course he beats Mark out. No offense Mark, but it might be time to retire.
Aneesa vs Katie
Winner Prediction Aneesa.
Actual Winner Aneesa.
The size difference in this match-up also is pretty wild. Aneesa is probably four times bigger than Katie. Katie put up an incredible fight though. I wish she stuck around, but unfortunately she is going home.
Era 2 Take Shelter
Brandon vs Ryan
Winner Prediction. I really don’t care. Go Brandon I guess.
Actual Winner Ryan.
Really didn’t care who won this one. Neither of these guys will make it to the end.
Cara vs Kellyanne
Winner Prediciton Cara
Actual Winner Cara.
I actually thought Kellyanne was going to win there for a second. Not the biggest fan of Cara Maria, but she showed up tonight.
Era 3 Balls In
Tony vs Leroy
Winner Prediction Tony.
Actual Winner Tony.
Leroy is one of my favorites, but he went in with no plan and did not use his body weight at all. Tony is a strong dude, always has been.
Amanda vs Nia
Winner Prediction Nia.
Actual Winner Nia.
amanda only got one point because of the confusion. Nia was always gonna win this. I’m fine with this outcome, Amanda is incredibly annoying. Both Kyland and Josh are being weird over Nia though.
Era 4 Hall Brawl
Theo vs Paulie
Winner Prediction Theo.
Actual Winner Theo.
He’s just bigger and honestly, Paulie looks out of shape. Theo had every advantage and Paulie didn’t have a plan at all.
Olivia vs Nurys
Winner Prediction Nurys.
Actual Winner Olivia.
I had hope that Nurys would pull through on this one, she did great last season. Olivia put a sour taste in my mouth since last season, but it’s nice to get some of the annoying drama in the house out of the way.
Final Thoughts
I like the final words stuff. I still feel like I have a pretty good idea of these competitors. I think Era 3 has the best bet across the board. Era 4 is hungry for sure too. Era 1 has great competitors, but even still I think they will eventually get beaten out by most of the younger people. Era 2 has too much animosity and drama going on. they wont work well and will throw games to get each other out. I’m looking forward to future episodes after this. It is the start to a great season, a very memorable season. We will see where everyone stacks up, but Era 3 and 4 are my main groups right now.
