What I Played This Weekend // October 11-12, 2023

Alright, I know this isn’t technically the end of the traditional weekend, but my days off are Wednesdays and Thursdays, so that’s my weekend! What did I do this past weekend with my gaming time? Check it out!

New World Rise of the Angry Earth

I’m pretty hardcore into New World again. I actually have been for the past few months. It has been a perfect game to jump into with some downtime, do a quest, chill, and gather resources. I will have my impressions of the newest expansion out later this week, but for now, this game is constantly on my mind. It’s all I want to do. I’m not super involved in the game. I’ve only done an expedition once so far. I just really find it fun to go solo, enjoy questing, and grind out the season pass stuff. If you’re reading this and you like New World, I’m on the El Dorado US West server.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Now I’ve been pretty hyped for this game for a while now Mirage is touted as going back to its roots. Well, I got the game on launch day and was too deep into New World to dive into until this weekend. And even then, I only played it for about an hour before I had to do my daily dad duties. That being said, the game feels like Assassin’s Creed still. I really like the opening bit. Basim is a thief kind of working with the Brotherhood. Eagle Vision is cool and is basically a toggle now. Stealing has a slight mini-game, but it’s there. Stealth feels the same, whistling to attract guards, same with parkour. I haven’t dived deep enough into it to really get a sense of how it feels, back to its roots or not, but I have been hankering for a new AC game for a bit now, so I will be dedicating some time to it.

Lunacid // Steam Deck

Lunacid is an indie game that came out on Steam a few weeks ago. It is low poly and says that it has inspiration from old From Software games like Kings Field. I’ve only seen videos of Kings Field, but it definitely nails the look of it. It’s an RPG, so you pick your character and class at the start. I played this one for about an hour as well today, while cooking dinner, and it runs pretty well on the Steam Deck so far. I fought off a bunch of snails, died once, and then got to the mail hub of the game, I think. I defintiely want to continue playing this game though. I doubt I will bea tit if it’s as tough as From Soft games, but I wouldn’t mind going along for the ride for a bit.

So that’s all I had time to really play for my weekend. New World will probably be a constant thing, and I will have impressions on the newest season coming up soon. Same with AC Mirage. I’ll get much further, hopefully, and really have an idea of how I feel about it.

What are your plans for the weekend? Any games you ready to jump into? Let me know!
